Rainy day

Droopy here

The weather here today as been yucky! It has rained and rained all day. Momma usually takes us on a walk at about 3 o'clock and there was serious talk about a wet walk today. Sadly, it started thundering and lightening so the walk was canceled which was ok with us bassets since we don't like the rain.

One thing about me, I do not like the rain. Momma says I have a lot of anxiety about bad weather, whatever that means. Usually I cry and pace around the house. Sometimes I hide in the closet, under the clothes. I have found that my favorite spot is in momma's lap. I stretch out across her lap and she rubs my head and I fall asleep and don't think about the scary storm. Momma says she doesn't mind me resting in her lap although her feet fall asleep after a while.

Me sleeping in momma's lap

The rain should be cleared up by tomorrow and walks should be had promptly at 3 o'clock. Momma said it's gonna be cold tomorrow and we might get to wear our sweatshirts.

A walk

Upon the request of Mango, we tried to get momma to take some action shots of us today.

Momma took us on a walk in the neighborhood. We love to walk in our neighborhood because loads of yummy smells for us to find.

Here we are starting off on our walk

Sniff sniff moving on

Now our favorite place to sniff is the cows by our house. According to our neighbors, the land is too marshy to build houses so they let the cows and some horses live there. Sometimes momma lets us go into the cow field but we've been warned that cows don't really appreciate being sniffed so if the cows are near the fence we aren't allowed in. The cows smell so delicious and Droopy especially likes to roll in the cow poop. Momma gets so mad when Droopy does that.

Look! Cow poop!

We finally moved away from the cows but still managed to find some awesome things to sniff.

Finally we went home, drank some nice water and took a nap.

Dog Bakery

Droopy here

Friday Momma found out that a new dog bakery had opened in our town. Momma was excited because there use to be a Three Dog Bakery but a big scary storm called a hurricane made it go away. This dog bakery is called Just Dog! Gourmet. Momma went on Friday but didn't take us with her. Momma said there were lots of neat toys she had never seen, leashes, football jerseys and lots of other neat stuff without even looking at the cookies.

Momma finally made it to the cookie/bakery section she was amazed because there was so much to decide from!!!!!

Momma said there was also a wall of cookies but she forgot to take a picture of it. Oops!

Momma bought us lots of yummy treats. We got some peanut butter stars, cheddar bacon bones, parmesan twists, and some peanut butter pinwheels.

As a super special treat we also got king cake cookies.

Momma explained a king cake is a special cake people eat during mardi gras and that a king cake kinda tastes similar to a cinnamon roll but with purple, green and gold sprinkles. We also find out that sometimes people hide human puppies in the cake!!!!! How horrible! But momma assures us that the babies in the cake are plastic.

Momma forced up to wait to eat the king cake cookies until after the football games on Sunday. Now we've been forced to watch these football games for a while now. Neither Callie or I find them amusing.Goofy humans running around after a ball doesn't sound like any kind of basset hound fun to us. So we waited all day for our cookies. Once the games were over and the crazy screaming people quieted down Momma fed us our cookies.

Yummers!!!!!

We hope momma goes to the bakery again. We want more king cake cookies!!!! Maybe a nice Dalmatian cookie if they're out.

This just makes us sad

We heard very very sad news today.

A police officer, who lives about 30 minutes away from us, was arrested for animal cruelty. The police officer called the local animal shelter because her lab mix had died. When the people from the animal shelter got to the police officer's house they noticed that the lab had died of starvation because he was nothing but skin and bones. The police officer owned another dog, a boxer, and the animal shelter people noticed that the boxer was all skin and bones. So the animal shelter people took both dogs away. When the boxer was weighed they found out he was only about 35 pounds when he should weigh about 60 pounds. He also tested positive for heart worms and his gums were all infected. The lab puppy weighed 23 pounds when he died and should have weighed about 55 pounds. The police officer is being charged with one count of felony animal cruelty and one misdemeanor count of animal cruelty.

This makes us very sad and yet it makes us happy that we have warm beds to sleep in, crunchy kibble and lot of treats to eat and humans who love us. We know the lab is no longer in pain and no longer hungry since he has crossed the Rainbow Bridge and we wish the boxer all the best in his recovery.

Go give your human a big slobbery kiss

Lasagna

Callie here

Last night momma made lasagna for dinner which means one thing for Droopy and I- CHEESE!

We love cheese!! Droopy has been eating cheese since she was a puppy and when I showed up momma immediately introduced me to the world of cheese.

Here we are patiently waiting for the cheese.

It took momma a while to get the cheese to us because she was trying to put the lasagna together. But we held our ground and waited it out all the while giving momma the saddest looks possible.

Finally it was cheese time

Droopy about to scarf down a delicious piece of parmesan

Callie and her delicious piece of parmesan

Then it was onto mozzarella

Yum!

Give me that cheese

We are spending a lazy day sleeping in the sunshine since it has warmed up this week in Louisiana. It was very cold last week and we couldn't enjoy the sunshine.

First post

Droopy and Callie here.

This is our first post on our new bloggie. Our momma reads us lots of other puppy bloggies but we've come to find that there is a lack of basset hound bloggies and a serious lack of puppy bloggies who live in our area. So we got together and demanded that momma start a blog for us. Please be patient with our momma, she's new at this and still trying to figure it out.
