Thank you to everybody for the well wishes at the eye doctor! It went super well!
Well Momma told me Tuesday morning that it was time to go visit the eye doctor again. I have lots of eye problems and so I have to go get eye check ups twice a year. We hopped in the car and headed that way. My favorite part of the ride was when Momma drove by the bayou, cause there were so many awesome smells.
Are those ducks I smell????
A bayou, or bye-you as Momma says it, is a wide slow moving river that are really common in Louisiana. Lots of cool animals live in bayous including fish, turtles and ducks!
Once we made it to the eye doctor we had to wait a little while.
Can we go home yet???
Then the doctor showed up and put drops in my eyes and shined really really bright light in my eyes.
And I acted like a lady the whole time! I didn't even growl at the doctor once! Momma was super proud of me. The doctor said my eyes look good and Momma should keep putting in the drops she already does. Hurray!!!!
Please excuse the serious lack of photos in the next part of the blog! You'll understand when you read through it!
Momma was so excited that things at the eye doctor went so well that she said we could go to the Nola City Bark, which is the dog park we go to. Momma packed me back in the car and off we went. There was only one other dog at the park. Momma scooped me up and put me on the ground to go into the park. Well one of my back legs hurt so I didn't want to walk. I tried to hop around on one back leg but Momma found that unacceptable!
No park for me!
Momma scooped me up and put me back in the car and called my normal vet. They told Momma to bring me on in. A little while later there we were at Dr. Bell's office but for some reason there was no Dr. Bell! Some strange man named Dr. Marshall was there instead.
He examined my leg and really couldn't find anything wrong so he told Momma I needed X-rays. Did you guys know the vet can take pictures of your insides?!?!?!?! Well I had no idea!
A picture of my insides!!!!!!
Well Dr. Marshall says I have bone spurs and arthritis in my back and I also have something called a bladder stone?!?! I don't remember swallowing any stones!
That Dr. Marshall still wasn't sure why I was limping so he gave Momma some medicine to hopefully help me stop limping and told me to get lots of rest and take it easy.
Momma has taken me to work with her the past two days so she could keep an eye on me. Too bad she won't let me go play with the other dogs so I've been stuck in a kennel. Momma did bring my comfy bed and bought me a cheese and bacon filled bone but I'm still mad at her.
Fast forward to today- My leg is feeling much better! No more limping! I'm still having a little bit of trouble getting up in the morning but that's it. Momma called Dr. Bell's office today and told them I am doing much better. They told Momma I need to finish my medicine and then I'll go back to Dr. Bell and we can figure out what to do about the arthritis and the bladder stone.

Woof! Woof! Oh! What a day you had at the vet. Sending you my Golden Healing Thoughts. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
ReplyDeleteDroopy! You were lucky to get that photocopy of your insides and see the bad stone before it got bigger. I bet they will bombard it with vibrations to make it shake loose. I sure am glad that your leg feels better. Your mom is like mine. Take no chances, go to the vet.
ReplyDeleteYou just take good care of yourself, OK?
Slobbers,
Mango
Ooh. Two vet visits in one day is never good. But, it sounds like maybe they caught some things (stones? eesh) before they are Serious Problems, so I think that is a good thing. It's pretty cool how they can see inside you like that, isn't it? Anyhoo, rest up and take care of yourself!

Sorry to hear about the stones and the limping. I have hip issues and whenever I limp I take D Flame by NOW whihc was prescribed by a holistic vet. It works, even my dad takes it when his leg hurts.
ReplyDeleteTake it easy.
Awww we will say a prayer for you to feel better, Droopy!
ReplyDeleteLicks,
Ruthie
Oh, poor Droopy! We were very pleased about the good report from the eye doctor and could not believe how well behaved you were!
ReplyDeleteClearly we need to learn from you.
We were not pleased at all to learn about the ouchie paw and then for the pictures of your insides to tell us all that!
We hope you get better real soon. Harry, our predecessor used to take glucosamine and cod liver oil for his arthritis - he was quite stiff but managed OK.
He had an electric blanket for the winter nights.......and they say we are spoiled - heat seemed to help him a lot.
No worries about Bailey missing from the pics - she is nearly always away under the trees in the garden sniffing - she is not interested in eating flowers!
love and kisses

Droopy, gee wheez buddy your foot thing sounds like my weird experience at the waddle. It is amazing how them human vets can give us meds to make us feel so good. We are glad your eyes are doing good, but sounds like maybe you need to get lots of rest this weekend. I think we will try to get some pictures of our insides as well, never seem them. :) Take it easy and make sure your humans are giving you plenty loving. Sniff ya later, The Hounddogs
